You remember not so long ago when College radio ruled the alternative airways and artists actually sold record based on its airplay?
OK ok ok College radio is not what it used to be but there are a few stations that still continue to break the mold and put well deserving quality bands on the air. My favorite is KXLU – which is entirely funded by donations from its listeners. NO COMMERCIAL ADVERTISING WHATSOEVER
Let’s keep it that way
PLEASE donate to KXLU today between 3pm-6pm! We really need support to keep free-form, commercial free radio ALIVE! No donation is too small!
Here are a list of things you can get…
Sweatshirt
t-shirt
stainless steel water bottle (highly recommended)
KXLU SNUGGIE!!!!!
Keychain Bottle Opener
Beach Towel
Soap on a Rope
Dirty Projectors- Bitte Orca expanded version CD (2 CDs!)
2 Deerhunter tickets for Nov 1
KXLU shot glass
KXLU Zippo Lighter
Free Pizza for Life!!! (see the band Pizza! perform for free for the rest of your life!!!)
and many many more things!
PLEASE CALL 310-338-5958 between the hours of 3pm and 6pm Pacific Time

MP3: Twin Sister – Lady Daydream
Where do the weeks go? Honestly. I can’t believe its already Friday.
I hope youve had a lovely week. Looking for some action this weekend? Why not check out our new Concert Calendar and figure out your weekend show-hopping schedule.
While you’re getting ready to hit the town I strongly suggest downloading and listening to Twin Sister‘s track “Lady Daydream” off their EP Color Your Life.
The band are selling the EP themselves on their bandcamp page. All I can say is it’s absolutely FLAWLESS. Twin Sister will be coming through Southern California next month on tour with The Morning Benders and Cults playing the Henry Fonda Theatre Oct 14th.

WET & RECKLESS
“edgy girl-group stylings lean toward the punk and pointed rather than the pretty and predictable” – Kevin Bronson, BuzzbandsLA
“While all manner of Williamsburg girls have been prancing around in 60?s pop princess costumes (and while Dum Dum Girls are humorlessly doing a more grown-up version of the same thing here in LA), Wet & Reckless have taken a broader, less musically strict (read:”more fun”) approach…who says an all-girl band has to hide behind a curtain of fuzz and harmonies? And besides, us rockists need an answer to all this throwback girl group business.” – Classical Geek Theatre

BIFFY CLYRO (Ayrshire, Scotland) 10:30p
SEASPIN 9:30p
EMPIRES 8:30p
BIFFY CLYRO
Biffy Clyro create a mind-boggling mix of off-kilter tempos, itchy, unpredictable guitars, soulful choruses and feral screams, sewn together into a strange tapestry of sound. Biffy’s ranks grew exponentially when ‘Puzzle’ came along and stunned listeners with its achingly personal, rich and complex take on rock anthems, and Simon, James and Ben found themselves playing Wembley Stadium with Muse, headlining the John Peel Stage at Glastonbury and gigging with The Rolling Stones.
“… power to invoke full arenas of people to sing in unison with their hooky choruses and to withstand such a booming volume that it will bring visible blood to the ears.” – Daytrotter
