Hands – Magic Fingers

Hands (Los Angeles, CA)

Hands – armed with only a handful of demos available on their bandcamp page – have been making their mark across the Los Angeles club scene over the past few months. They have even opened for the likes of Deerhoof and Devotchka. This velocity seems a little sudden but their fantastic live show is quickly winning audiences over and seems to be setting the stage for perhaps something much grander. Is this the next band to break big out of Silverlake?

Hands will be headed to Austin next month for SXSW – schedule to be posted soon. LA Readers can catch the band tonight opening for Pepper Rabbit and Chain Gang Of 1974 at The Bootleg Theater. Download “Magic Fingers” below.

  • Sunset Sessions

There is an event called Sunset Sessions Rock! in June in San Diego. It gives indie alternative bands a chance to play in front of big radion stations from across the country, music supervisors from TV + ads, video game programmers, managers and record labels. It cost some dough to play (like 2-8k), and you have to actually be good enough to get picked, but it’s a once in a lifetime chance to get in front of all these music industry people that can completely launch a bands career. February’s SS had 45 bands play to 800 music biz people. Check out info at http://www.sunsetsessions.org to see how to get your band (or a band that you know of and is good) in.
