The Raincoats Re-issue Out Oct 13th On Kill Rock Stars

You may have noticed our excitement yesterday when we discovered that legendary all female UK post-punk band The Raincoats were named as one of the headliners at the upcoming Part Time Punks Festival hitting the Echo/Echoplex on Oct. 11th.

I was first introduced to the band at the ripe old age of 11 thanks to the liner notes of Nirvana‘s Incesticide. I became thoroughly obsessed again around 15 thanks to 10 Things I Hate About You (Thank you Julia Stiles).

The band’s seminal first album originally released in 1979 is being re-released October 13th via Kill Rock Stars. It is an absolute MUST HAVE.

This will be The Raincoats first time on the west coast EVER. AS IN EVVVVAHHHHHH. If you go to Part Time Punks Fest and don’t see this band you will be skinned alive.

Legend Les Paul Dies At The Age Of 94

Les Paul Dies at 94

Some sad news this morning:

The legendary Les Paul – one of the world’s premier guitarists and pioneer in the development of the solid body electric guitar passed away this morning at the age of 94.

While many are familiar with his work with Gibson guitars he is also well known for his recording innovations such as overdubbing, delay effects, and innovations in multi-track recording which revolutionized the way music is recorded and delivered even today.

He performed live well into his 90s and was jaw dropping every time. Les Paul passed away at his home in White Plains, NY due to complications from Pneumonia. He will be missed.

Adios.

TONIGHT IN LOS ANGELES: Avi Buffalo, Parson Red Heads, Dawes, Jackson Browne

Avi Buffalo (Long Beach, CA)

[JAX PICK] Avi Buffalo, Roadside Graves, The Parson Red Heads, M. Bison @ The Knitting Factory

You may have heard by now that the Knitting Factory will be closing its doors on Halloween. Quite honestly I must admit I’m not sad to see it move on from its Hollywood Strip Mall location. I’ve been avoiding the venue for years.

Tonight’s bill in the main room though is SOOO GOOD I’m willing to brave the venue. The Parson Red Heads will be performing with Roadside Graves, Avi Buffalo, and M. Bison. I don’t think you could have a more solid lineup.

The show is All Ages and worth the trek.

Avi Buffalo recently made three early tracks available for download using Bandcamp. Tracks start at just $1 as High Quality Wav audio. Bandcamp allows you to set your own price so if you feel like donating a little more to help the band pay for their upcoming dates with Beach House I’m sure they would be MOST appreciative.

You can stream the tracks below and download by clicking the DOWNLOAD button ;)
