No Age To Release New EP In October

No Age are set to release a new 4 song EP in October on Sub Pop. This will be the band’s first offering since 2008′s highly acclaimed Nouns LP.

They pretty much sealed my adoration for them by making the EP only available digitally and on vinyl – NO CDs whatsoever.

I’m so fucking stoked the vinyl+digital format is now becoming the norm!!! JAXART has been doing it for years Y’alls!!!

No music yet but tracklisting can be found below!

01. Losing Feeling
02. Genie
03. Aim at the Airport
04. You’re a Target

Tonight In Los Angeles: Mika Miko, Crystal Antlers, No Doubt, Ida Maria

[JAX PICK] Audacity, Mika Miko, Crystal Antlers @ The Prospector – I love a good excuse to drive down to Long Beach to see a show. Audacity are great, Crystal Antlers are heading back to europe soon, and you should all make it a point to see Mika Miko before it’s too late.

[Post-Foetus] @ Spaceland – A band you may not have heard of who are absolutely worth checking out. Dream worthy folk-tronica. FABULOUS.
Glasvegas, Ida Maria @ Henry Fonda – Ida Maria is a goddess. ‘nough said.

Sunny Day Real Estate Reunite! Reissues Out In Sept. Via Sub Pop

Sunny Day Real Estate (Seattle, WA)

My little emo heart leaped for joy when I heard that Sunny Day Real Estate were reuniting for a tour this fall after a 10 year hiatus. I haven’t bought a concert ticket on Ticketmaster in years and the second the Henry Fonda show went on pre-sale I had my tickets.

Sub Pop
will also re-issue both Diary and LP2. Both re-mastered albums will include rare bonus tracks as well as newly written liner notes and will be released on both CD and LP on Sept. 15th.

Still waiting for Fugazi and Refused to reunite. Then my wildest dreams will have come true.

FUN FACT: When you do a google image search for “Sunny Day Real Estate” no less than 20 pictures of Division Day show up. WEEIIIIIIIRD

Video: Tiny Vipers – Dreamer (From "Life On Earth")

Tiny Vipers (Seattle, WA)

[MP3] Tiny Vipers – Dreamer

You may remember we featured Tiny Vipers aka Seattle based songstress Jesy Fortino’s stellar track “Dreamer” a few weeks back. Her deep and sultry voice mixed with fabulously melancholy tunes remind me so much of Sibylle Baier. She has also been compared to contemporaries such as Jose Gonzalez. You can now see her performance as well as download live MP3s at Laundromatinee.com. My obsession just went up six-fold.

Jesy’s sophomore album, Life On Earth, released by Sub Pop Records a few weeks back and has been in my regular rotation ever since. This could very well be my Album of 2009. Be sure to pick up the release in the Sub Pop shop.

Tiny Vipers will be playing at Echo Curio tonight. I will be there. You should be there. It’s going to be amazing. Watch video of “Dreamer” below!

Video: Hipster Job – Bible stories done Williamsburg stylee

Being that it’s Friday and you’ve already started you’re weekend early by zoning out on the internets – I thought I would share this hilarious video with y’alls.

It’s the biblical tale of Job as best expressed for today’s hipster youth. One of the funniest videos I’ve seen in a while

Video: Lissy Trullie – Ready for the Floor (Hot Chip Cover)

Lissy Trullie (New York, NY)

I have been thoroughly obsessed with Lissy Trullie lately. There is something alluring in her rock n’ roll mystique and androgynous good looks. She reminds me so much of Patty Smith and I feel the music world needs more strong, beautiful women in it.

Today Lissy released a video for her cover of Hot Chip‘s “Ready For The Floor.” The video was show by Richard Kern. This is one of the best cover’s I have ever heard.

Lissy is going to be huge. Just you wait.

Video: Bark Bark Bark – I’m Needy (Milk:Blood RMX)

Last week Jacob Safari finally released his long awaited Bark Bark Bark Tour Girlfriends mixtape. You may know Jacob best as the wicked drummer for the Mae Shi.

Tour Girlfriends is available now digitally through Retard Disco and The Mae Shi’s self-created Team Shi Label. The 38 track gapless mixtape features several new and previously unreleased works by Jacob and others, as well as remixes from the likes of Hawnay Troof, Bad Dudes, So Many Dynamos, Yea Big + Kid Static, and The Mae Shi.

A new video for the track “I’m Needy” remixed by friend Milk:Blood premiered on Pitchfork TV last week. The video was directed by Berlin based Timur Siqin and is a kaleidoscopic collection of police chases and fiery car crashes that borderlines on absurd. It fits almost perfectly with Jacob’s cut and paste glitched out style.

Preview Tour Girlfriends on Retard Discos website. You can also purchase the mixtape now at iTUNES.

Phoenix On The interface

189_Phoenix-general 1-Pascal Textiera
PHOENIX (Versailles, France)

[MP3] Phoenix – 1901

Seriously people CANNOT stop talking about Phoenix these days. The french quartet’s recent SNL Appearance and amazing SOLD OUT performance at The Wiltern in Los Angeles a few weeks back I think sealed the deal for most of the music industry. I think this is the first new rock band I’ve seen in a long time that could potentially achieve Radiohead status success.

Phoenix recently did an exclusive Acoustic performance for AOL’s Spinner. You can catch their performance of “1901″ below. Watch the whole performance + interview at the link below.

Video: Julie Doiron – Consolation Prize

Julie Doiron (Toronto, Canada)

[MP3] Julie Doiron – When Brakes Get Wet

Funny. I was just telling someone earlier this week how MUCH I love Julie Doiron and this morning a new video and MP3 popped into my inbox. It would be a crying shame for me not to post and share her fabulousness. Julie Doiron crafts some of the best indie pop songs around. They are clever, endearing, and hold your attention.

“Consolation Prize” is definitely noisier than her previous offerings – bringing some 90s flare to her quirky tunes. You can also download “When Brakes Get Wet” above. Be sure to pick up her new album “I Can Wonder What You Did With Your Day” which is out now on Jagjaguwar.
